Getting IT Right @ CeVMS: Microsoft Office Specialist for Word

This year in Round Rock ISD, the BIM curriculum at the middle school level includes several opportunities for students to complete specialist certification exams. Our students were some of the first in the district to complete the requirements to test for one of these certifications. This is a huge accomplishment and one that shows Cedar Valley's commitment to technology integration.

Mr. Robbins, the BIM teacher, sent the following information out to the staff:

"I am excited to let you know that I have three students who earned their Microsoft Office certification in Word today. They have worked extremely hard to receive this certificate.

Jonathan M., Ronak P., Justin W. have successfully completed the requirements to be recognized as a Microsoft Office Specialist for Office Word 2010.

This is just too cool!  I am really proud of them.  Please congratulate them!"

Getting IT Right @ CeVMS: Edmodo Avatars

In Ms. Settemeyer's 8th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies classes, the students have been delving into Edmodo. One of the cool things about Edmodo is that each user has the ability to personalize their profile. In an effort to help students learn a little about digital citizenship and privacy but still allowing for freedom of expression, Ms. Settemeyer's students all created an avatar with Manga Avatar Face Maker to upload into their profiles.

I thought it was so cool that I made one for me too:

What do you think? Is it me?
